Environmental Policy

As part of our continuing drive for excellence we have developed this environmental policy statement. It sets out our commitment to reducing our environmental impact and, where possible, improving the local environmental conditions.

We have undertaken to make every employee of the Company understand and implement the aspects of this policy in their day to day work through regular communication of objectives and achievements.

We are committed to environmental protection and will strive to build on our existing activities such as sourcing of suppliers with their own environmental statements and policies. In particular our Company will:

  • meet or exceed all applicable legal requirements;
  • establish and maintain the highest practical environmental standards and practices throughout our business;
  • through a local community relations policy actively encourage schools and local groups to enhance the environment;
  • minimise levels of waste generated;
  • use packaging which has minimal environmental impact - use of recycled materials and encourage our suppliers to do likewise;
  • use and encourage suppliers which carry out their business in an environmentally responsible manner - seek their statements setting out their policy on environmental management systems;
  • use transport in an environmentally responsible manner i.e. minimising pollution and energy efficient;
  • reduce waste in the office and using recycled materials;
  • implement an energy management system - energy conservation - air conditioning, lighting, heating etc.;
  • Heat the building to a temperature of around 22°C to ensure heating efficiency wherever possible;
  • consider the implementation of an environmental management system (EMAS, BS 7750);
  • include a policy of gradual change of the existing incandescent illumination system towards a low energy lighting system;
  • undertake a separate collection of other types of urban residues (toner and printer cartridges, oils etc.);
  • utilise landscape practises that encourage natural irrigation of plants and shrubs to eliminate the need for the use of mains water;
  • rationalise electricity use by the installation of low energy lighting throughout the building wherever practicable
